Mapping the Past

Mapping the Past is a new initiative developed within the broader framework of the IMPERO Project to create a dynamic and accessible mapping of archaeological sites and landscapes.

The project begins with the ager Rusellanus, a region that has long stood at the center of our research and is closely connected to the editorial initiative Per Pagos Vicosque, which likewise seeks to explore settlement patterns, mobility, and historical landscapes through new comparative perspectives.

Over the coming months, this page will progressively host a series of thematic atlases dedicated to different settlement types and site categories, including urban centers, baths, necropolises, villages, and other forms of occupation.

These atlases will cover both the Classical and Medieval periods, offering a structured tool for visualizing archaeological evidence, tracing continuities and transformations across time, and making ongoing research available to a wider scholarly and public audience.
