First day of excavations at Castellaraccio with Michelle, Alessandro, Benedetta, Cleo, and Ryan. The first day was dedicated to clearing Areas 2000 and 3000. With the help of Alberto, we removed the last stump in the northern area of the room and we started to clean the site to start fresh tomorrow.
The 2022 excavation season focuses on these two areas of the castle that are inserted within the fortified medieval village. Last year we were able to reach the earliest phases of the settlement in these portions of the site, and we hope to define their chronologies and structures.
